Almost 3,800 Residents Under Water Boil Notice In West Tipp

Uisce Eireann is putting customers supplied by the Dundrum Regional Public Water Supply on a Boil Water Notice. The notice will affect almost 3,800 people living in Boherlahan, Goold’s Cross, Clonoulty, Barraderry and surrounding areas. Dundrum Village is not impacted by the Boil Water Notice as it is supplied by another scheme, the boundary is at the crossroads at the North East of the village.

The company says operational issues at the water treatment plant which resulted in increased turbidity impacting the treatment processes. Turbidity is the presence of particles in the water often caused by soil or other organic matter entering the raw water source.

Customers can also check if their property is included by visiting the Water Quality section of www.water.ie and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1800 278 278.

Consultations with the HSE about the quality of the water are to continue but in the meantime, all customers on the Dundrum supply are advised to boil and cool their water before use until further notice.

At present there are 5 other Boil Water Notices in effect in the county – these cover the Glenary, the Galtee, the Ardfinnan, the Burncourt/Ballylooby and the Thurles Regional Water Schemes.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communication on this Boil Water Notice and are reminded that the water is safe to consume once boiled and cooled.
