Two Municipal Districts in county Tipperary are eligible to apply for funding under the EU Just Transition Fund. The fund is intended to support communities were employment opportunities are lost due to the move away from fossil fuels.
Carrick on Suir and Thurles MD are both eligible for the fund due to the impact of closures of Bord na Mona operations. Interested groups must register with Pobal by February 2nd to be eligible to make an application before the February 22nd deadline. Successful projects will be delivered from June 2024 to 31 March 2026.
A wide range of organisations types are eligible to apply such as Community and Voluntary Organisations (CVOs) or Not for Profit Organisations (NGOs), Social Enterprises (SEs), and Micro, Small to Medium Sized Organisations (MSME)
The grants aim to support projects that will contribute to a green transition and a sustainable local economy, including through creating sustainable employment and building relevant capacities within local communities with a range of projects likely to be funded.
Funding is available for projects at sums ranging from €50,000 and €300,000. The scheme is administered by Pobal and full details are available on their website at this link here.
