Deputy Michael Lowry has welcomed news that there has been a breakthrough in talks over the Roster Dispute between An Garda Síochána Senior Management and representative bodies of Garda personnel across the country.
Deputy Lowry says that the discussions seem to have been constructive and says that ‘Had such talks taken place earlier in this dispute a great deal of stress and anger could have been avoided.”
An interim roster is now to be put in place that allows approximately 60% of Garda to remain on the Covid Roster of four twelve hour shifts followed by four days leave and the remaining Garda will revert to the pre Covid roster of working six ten hour shifts and then having four days off. Talks are to resume shortly on the creation of a new roster for all personnel.
