There was some progress yesterday in respect of schools gaining access to the swimming pool at the Garda College in Templemore.
Deputy Michael Lowry received confirmation that the Garda College management has asked the Office of Public Works, the owners of the property, to grant licences to three schools to enable them to use the pool.
The schools approved so far are St. Joseph’s N.S Templemore, St. Colmcilles’s N.S. and Drom N.S.
Deputy Lowry is welcoming the progress but says access to the pool for Community Swimming classes has yet to be restored.
The Thurles based TD says he will continue to push for this access to be restored.
A meeting between the We Just Want To Swim Group Templemore and Justice Minister Simon Harris scheduled for Feb 1st in Leinster house was postponed until next week due to pressure of business in Leinster house last Wednesday.
