A man aged in his 40s is to appear before a sitting of the District Court in Nenagh today after being arrested in Tipperary town yesterday in connection with the seizure of over 62,000 tablets.
A woman in her 30s, also arrested yesterday, has been released without charge, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
€125,000 of controlled drugs were seized during an intelligence-led multi-agency operation yesterday. The seizure of 62,500 Alprazolam and Clonazepam tablets is understood to have been made at a residence in the town as part of a multi agency search operation. Both of the drugs are a class of medications called benzodiazepines – a type of sedative medication.
The operation involved Revenue Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Tipperary Divisional Drugs Unit.
