A planned Eir Mast will not go ahead in Gortnahoe. The long running case took a positive turn for the local community last week when An Bord Pleanála(ABP) decided not to contest a case in the High Court.

An Bord Pleanála had overturned Tipperary County Council’s decision to refuse planning permission and community members in Gortnahoe opposed to the project had decided to seek a Judicial Review in the High Court. Fundraising was a part of the group’s work as they prepared to take the Judicial Review.

The proposed development involved the construction of an 18m high mast and associated antenna and communication dishes in the heart of the village. Cllr Imelda Goldsboro has welcomed the decision by ABP to not contest the case.
