Approximately 713,000 votes are being counted in the Ireland South European Parliament count centre in Cork located at the Nemo Rangers GAA Centre including the votes of Tipperary residents.
Extra staff are to take part from today as the Local Election vote count concludes. The Constituency is to return five candidates – incomplete tallies to date show that sitting MEPs Sean Kelly FG, Billy Kelleher FF are expected to retain their seats. Independent candidate Michael McNamara TD, Fine Gael’s John Mullins and Independents 4 Change’s Mick Wallace, a current MEP, are also performing well. It may be Wednesday before the county is completed for the 23 candidates. The other sitting MEP is Green Party Rep Grace O’Sullivan. The fifth outgoing MEP Deirdre Clune did not seek re-election.
In France the President Emanuel Macron yesterday called a snap General Election for June 30th as the far Right National Rally party looks to have secured 40% of the vote in the European parliament Elections.
