Details of new active travel infrastructure on the old Cork road south of Cashel have been published by Tipperary County council as a planning application for the project has been submitted.

The scheme commences at the existing pedestrian crossing north of the R639 / N74 Roundabout and extends to the junction of Deerpark Road, a distance of approximately 1 km. along the R639 (Cahir Road).

The works will involve site clearance to include removal of existing trees to facilitate the works,  new pedestrian crossings, removal of the existing hard shoulder from the Tesco Roundabout to Deerpark road and new and upgraded public lighting for the full extent of the works.

The plans can be viewed in the council offices in Tipperary town, Clonmel, Nenagh and are also available on the council website at www.tipperarycoco.ie .

The plans can be viewed until September 8th and the closing date for submissions on the Part 8 Planning Application is Friday September 23rd – such applications are used when the council applies to itself for permission for development works – submissions from the public on such applications are free of charge.
