Six Potential Songs Revealed To Represent Ireland At Eurovision

Six potential songs to represent Ireland in the Eurovision have been revealed to the public – although Ireland has won the song contest seven times it is now 27 years since Ireland’s last victory in 1996. Liverpool will host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine on May 13th.

The six songs will compete on The Late Late Eurosong 2023 Special in February.

The six contestants are:

Too Good for Your Love performed by ADGY(Andrew Carr) – a Donegal based artist whose music career took off in 2020 when he signed a record deal for his release Like You Do with Universal Music Group.

Midnight Summer Night performed by CONNOLLY(Jennifer Connolly) Ms Connolly is from Leitir Meailláin off the Galway cost and composed the song when she was just 17 years of age.

We Are One performed by Wild Youth – a four-piece band from Dublin with an extensive performance history. We are One was written with Grammy-nominated songwriter Jörgen Elofsson.

Wild performed by Leila Jane an indie pop singer-songwriter based in Dublin and the writing credits include Leila alongside Liis Hainla, an Estonian songwriter, Finnish producer Arto Ruotsala, and British songwriter Aaron Sibley.

Down in the Rain performed and composed by K Muni & ND (Kofi Appiah and Nevlonne Dampare) a Longford based duo

Hawaii performed by Public Image Limited.

The band has been performing for over 40 years and features former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten. Hawaii is a love letter to John Lydon’s wife of nearly five decades, Nora, who is living with Alzheimer’s. John was born in London but his parents are from Cork and Galway.
