Ultrasounds Being Referred To Another Hospital Amid Nenagh Hospital Staff Vacancies

Due to staff vacancies at Nenagh Hospital some patients requiring Ultrasounds are being referred to St Camillus’ Hospital in Limerick.

University of Limerick Hospital Group has confirmed to TMWR that the ultrasound service in Nenagh is currently being prioritised for inpatients, outpatients and patients attending the Medical Assessment Unit.

Efforts to recruit staff to the vacant position in Nenagh are ongoing however in the interim it is not possible to offer local GPs direct access to ultrasound services.

As a temporary measure GPs in Tipperary can make referrals for ultrasounds under the GP Access to Diagnostics programme via the service based at St Camillus’ Hospital in Limerick.

UHL group stresses that GPs are not being asked to make such referrals to University Hospital Limerick.

St Camillus’ hospital is located on Shelbourne Road on the Ennis side of  Limerick city and the hospital Eircode is  V94 5V24
