Postmasters Considering Ballot On Industrial Action

475

Postmasters are to hold an emergency meeting to consider a ballot on Industrial Action.

It could mean the withdrawing of support for changes to Postal Money Order and Foreign Exchange services.

The potential action follows mounting frustration with An Post and the Government with Postmasters saying morale is low and meaningful engagement is needed to resolve a range of issues.

The issues include an outstanding fit for purpose payment system agreed in 2018, payments for additional work on anti-Money Laundering procedures, outstanding payment due for work at Christmas 2021 and slow progress on a new rate for additional work on agency banking services.

The union is unhappy with a lack of engagement by An post despite and increasing workload for its members.

A final decision will be made at an executive meeting on Monday next.
