It has emerged that more than half of the public water supply in Co Tipperary is being lost through leaks in the system.  In fact 52.69% of all the county’s water is disappearing into the ground.

Figures published today listed the leak rates in every county in the country in 2014 and the levels the local authorities and Irish Water want to reduce these rates to by the end of this year.
Irish Water has a reduction target of 2% in mind for 2015.

For county Tipp, however, even if the target is reached by the end of 2015, the leak rate will still be over half at 50.69%.
On a national level the plan is reduce the overall leak rate from 49% to 47%.
