Johnson and Johnson Cashel Sold

The former Johnson and Johnson plant in Cashel has been sold, and the town is being told to prepare for a jobs boost in the coming weeks.
Fine Gael Junior Minister Tom Hayes confirmed the sale but has stopped short of announcing who the purchaser is, apart from indicating that it is a pharmaceutical business currently based in Singapore.

He further explained that before Christmas the company expressed its wish to buy the site in order to establish a European base.

The proximity of the M8 was a particular factor that impressed them, he said.

Deputy Hayes, who, alongside the IDA, was involved in talks with the purchaser, said that the finer details such as the amount of jobs that will be created have yet to be finalised, but the development he says, represents a huge opportunity for Cashel.
