Councillor Declan Burgess, Cathaoirleach of the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District is welcoming the funding awarded under the National Roads and Greenway allocations, especially €80,000 to progress the Cashel-Cahir greenway project.

Cllr Burgess is also thanking the Tipperary Council Active Travel staff for their work on the funding  application.

The funding is to be used to bring this project to route options and selection stage. A public consultation has already been completed  to gather public opinion on the project.  Cllr Burgess says there is huge potential as the cycleway connects to the existing Suir Blueway, which serves Cahir to Carrick on Suir via Clonmel. Studies are also underway to link the Blueway with the Waterford Greenway.

The councillor says  the facility is beneficial for both visitors and local residents and hopes that New Inn village will become a feature location on the cycleway.
