Council Take Charge Of Kilross Housing Estate

Rocksprings estate in Kilross has been taken in charge by Tipperary County Council following a decision at yesterday’s Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District meeting.

The developer Terence Coskeran, a resident on the 5 house estate attended yesterday’s meeting to see the taking in charge application, submitted in 2016, finally being approved.

The Council had claimed it was unable to process the application due to an agreement between Uisce Eireann and the Department of Housing and Local Government that put estates with developer provided water services infrastructure to the bottom of the list of estates to be taken in charge and even then subject to available funding.

Mr Coskeran took his case to the Oireachtas Petitions Committee in late 2022, chaired by Tipperary TD Martin Browne ,and credits the work of that Committee and local Councillor Michael Fitzgerald for the final resolution of the application.

Tipperary County Council and Uisce Eireann will now be responsible for the maintenance of roadways, lighting and water services including waste water in the estate.
