Submissions Open For A Permanent Public Artwork Piece To Commemorate Tipp GAA

Tipperary County Council is inviting artists to make submissions for the creation of a permanent public artwork in bronze to commemorate and celebrate Tipperary as the birthplace of the GAA in Hayes Hotel Thurles  in 1884.

The artwork will be located at the entrance to FBD Semple Stadium, Thurles, County Tipperary at the Castlemeadows entrance. The process to select the artist for the commission has two stages with the deadline for the first application set at noon on June 10th.

The commission has a budget of €160,000 including all taxes and duties – this is provided by Tipperary County Council.  Five artists will be shortlisted from the initial applications for the actual commission competition.

It is hoped to have the artist selected by early November this year with the piece to be completed and installed by April 30 2026.Full details are available on the council website at this link here.
