Deputy McGrath Launches Scathing Attack On Transport Minister Over N24 Delays

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has launched a scathing attack on Transport Minister Eamon Ryan.  The Leader of the Rural Independents says the N24 Road project is subject to delays due to policies of the Green party.

The TD claims that time and funding is being consumed on what he terms “needless environmental, carbon assessments, and climate change hurdles.”

Deputy McGrath is concerned that the proposed 35Km route might be a single-carriageway design instead of the safer option of a dual carriage roadway.

Tipperary County Council says the final decision on road type is yet to be made as the planning application will not be ready until early 2025.

Deputy McGrath says this could delay a construction start until 2028 or even 2030 and is also expressing concerns for those included in the study area which impacts any planning applications the land owner may wish to progress.

Given the lack of Public transport in rural areas Deputy McGrath is highlighting that

“Rural Ireland needs good road connectivity.”
