Progress on a Visitor or Interpretative centre for Cashel is being made according to the District Administrator Anselm McGowan.

At today’s Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District Meeting Cllr Roger Kennedy sought an update.

The meeting heard that the project is at a sensitive commercial stage.

It is hoped that a deal to acquire the preferred location can be finalised in 6 to 8 weeks.

Mr McGowan hopes to give a fuller update when the deal has been concluded.

A site for the visitor centre has been a priority of Fáilte Ireland for a number of years but is being delivered by the Office of Public Works in collaboration with Tipperary County Council.

The interpretative centre is intended to assist the development of Cashel as a “Destination Town” for tourism purposes and to increase the economic benefit to the town due to the appeal of the Rock of Cashel which reports 278,803 visitors for 2022.
