Two out of the 5 Tipperary TDs supported the transition of Taoiseach and Cabinet over the weekend.

The decision of a rotating  Taoiseach was a deal made under the Programme of Government.

Fianna Fail TD Jackie Cahill along with Independent TD Michael Lowry backed Leo Varadkar to become head of Government.

Michael Lowry says he believes in giving credit where credit is due, however he did acknowledged that the coalition had a difficult birth but it had enough success to warrant a vote of support.

The Thurles based TD named a number of successes including the finances being in good order.

Deputy Lowry says the alternative is a Sinn Fein led government along with other left TDs which he stated would not be a coherent government as it’s untried and untested.

Independent TD Mattie McGrath, Labour’s Alan Kelly and Sinn Féin’s Martin Browne vote nil to the appointment of the Fine Gael leader as Taoiseach.
