Fianna Fail & Fine Gael Accused Of Sabotaging Development of Shannon LNG By TD Mattie McGrath

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath is accusing the leaders of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael of sabotaging the development of the Shannon LNG to remain in power.

The TD notes the decision by An Bord Pleanála recently to refuse permission but says the Government effectively ended the project by removing the Shannon LNG terminal from the EU Projects Common Interest List in 2021.

Deputy McGrath is highlighting that the Programme for Government agreed between Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and The Green Party declares that the parties “do not support the importation of fracked gas.” The TD is accusing FF and FG of a “deceitful narrative aimed at maintaining their power-sharing deal with the Green Party.”

Deputy McGrath is calling on FF and FG to abandon what he calls their “deceptive charade, pretending to champion rural Ireland and rural development while actively bolstering a party committed to dismantling rural communities and Ireland’s energy security.”
