Gardaí in Tipperary Town and Limerick are investigating the circumstances in which a delivery van was stolen yesterday while the driver was making a delivery to a business on Main Street, Tipperary town.

The van has since been recovered in the Hyde Road area of Limerick.  Garda in Henry Street Limerick recovered the van and at the time there was a person in the vehicle.  Garda in Tipperary town say no injuries were reported during the theft of the van and that the person that stole the van may not be the person currently in custody in Limerick. Details of the items recovered in the van are yet to be established. It is understood that the Delivery Driver’s personal phone and wallet were in the van at the time of the theft.

The theft is the second time delivery vehicles have been targeted on Main Street in recent months. An attempt was made to take stock from a van making deliveries last month again while the driver was in the premises making deliveries.
