Appeal Issued For Info Into Car Blaze In Tipp Town

Tipperary Fire Service and An Garda Siochana responded to a car on fire in the Bank Place Car Park on Saturday(June 24th).

The alarm was raised at approximately 9.15pm and it was almost 11pm before the scene was cleared.

The vehicle, thought to be Ford Focus was completely destroyed in the incident and was removed from the scene by a tow truck once the fire was dealt with and Garda had completed a preliminary examination of the scene.

No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were damaged as none were parked close to the vehicle at the time.

Garda describe the car as an “abandoned car” and say it had been parked at the location “for a number of months “.

Garda also say it is “unclear how the fire started and that their enquiries are ongoing.”

There are also reports that the car was vandalised in the days prior to the fire.

The incident caused some disruption to traffic as the town was busy at the time with traffic returning from the GAA match in Limerick and Saturday night time hospitality trade.

Tipperary Fire Services were able to access a water supply from street side valves with specialised foam product was also used to deal with the fire.
