Two Cashel Cllrs Frustrated Over Lack Of Info On New Nursing Unit

Two local Councillors are expressing disappointment and frustration at the outcome of a meeting of the South Regional Health Forum in Cork today.

Cllrs Declan  Burgess and Cllr Roger Kennedy were seeking updates on the selection of a site in Cashel for the Community Nursing Unit.

Despite Cllr Burgess submitting a motion in advance, requesting details of the review of the Palmers Hill site as a potential location, no information was forthcoming.

Cllr Roger Kennedy says the staff in the HSE Estates section conducting the review were not present and that although today was frustrating Minister Mary Butler has given assurances that the funding will be provided once the HSE selects a site in Cashel.

The project was originally to go to planning in 2019 at St Patrick’s Hospital.

In February of this year the HSE revealed that it now considers the site at St Patrick’s to be too small for the 60 bed ensuite Unit.
