Police have arrested three people in the cable car disaster that killed 14 people in northern Italy.

The emergency brake may have been deactivated by a clamp used as a temporary repair, prosecutors say. Those arrested include the company owner, the Chief Director and the Service manager.

The police claim that the company chose not to close the service for repairs. It is alleged that staff put a clamp on an emergency break which prevented it from working during the incident. 14 people were killed when the cable car plunged to the ground high in the mountain in a wooded area.

The sole survivor was a 5 year old boy.
