There was double success for Lattin’s Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe as she returned to Ireland yesterday as a member of the Ireland Women’s 7s Rugby team that won the HSBC World Series in Perth, Western Australia.
Amee, alongside Irish Captain Lucy Mulhall and Terry Kennedy were all selected in the tournament Dream Team. The men’s team finished in third place in the tournament.
Stevie O’Donnell reports that Amee-Leigh Murphy Crowe is the greatest player he has ever seen to wear the Green jersey of Ireland. Amee-Leigh always credits Breda Christie Tipperary Town AC for the excellent training she got at the running track in the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre in her teenage years – her early rugby experience was with Clanwilliam.
Amee-Leigh and team mates will now look forward to the next 7s tournaments in Vancouver and Los Angeles during February and March with participation in the Paris Olympics set for July.
