Irish water is dealing with a burst water main in Ballinastick between Ballingarry and New Birmingham.

This will cause supply disruptions to Ballintaggart, Cappagh, Ballaghboy, Tinock, Cloncurry, Ballinastick and surrounding areas in Co. Tipperary.

Irish water expects to have the repairs completed and supply restored by 6pm on Saturday September 3rd but possibly sooner.

Irish water has been supplying water to the public using tankers over recent weeks to maintain supplies.

A water main burst has drained the reservoir and compounded issues caused by another mains burst earlier this week .

Without water in the system Irish water cannot find the bust so supplies have been shut off the area to allow the reservoir time to build.

Crews will investigate the network in an attempt to find and repair the leak tomorrow, however, this may take longer than normal so it make take until Saturday. Irish water says tanker supplies are available at Kilbraugh and Earlshill.

An additional one is also being setup at Carrol’s Factory.

When the repairs are completed it may take a further 2 – 3 hours for supply to return to normal.

The reference number for this incident is TIP00052425 – this can be used to find updates on the water.ie website.

Irish water customer care line is available 24 hours every day at 1800 278 278.

Irish water continues to appeal to the public to conserve water and avoid activities such as power washing or using hose pipes to water gardens.
