Gardaí from Killaloe Garda Station, part of the Tipperary Clare Division responded to a report of a road traffic collision in the Newport area last evening.
Garda subsequently established that the driver was already disqualified from driving.
The man was arrested for drink driving after Garda confirmed that he was over the legal limit.
The man will now appear in court at a date in the near future for driving under the influence, driving without insurance or driving licence and careless driving.
