Deputy Lowry Will Not Support Sinn Fein No Confidence Motion In Justice Minister

Tipperary TD Michael Lowry will not support the Sinn Fein motion of No Confidence in Justice Minister Helen McEntee in tomorrow’s Dáil Vote.

The TD says while he has reservations about senior Garda management now is not the time to change the Minister for Justice.

Deputy Lowry says this is what the rioters in Dublin want and removing Minister McEntee would be a victory for their actions and only create instability.

Social Democrat TD Jennifer Whitmore has offered a pairing arrangement with Minister Eamon Ryan so that he does not have to travel back to Ireland from the COP 28 Climate Conference in Dubai to vote.

Mr Ryan has been involved in ministerial roles on behalf of the European Union behind the scenes at the climate conference as well as co-chairing some round table discussions.

The Taoiseach and the Tánaiste both agreed that it made sense for him to accept the offer.

The Government looks likely to win an alternative motion that offers full confidence in Minister McEntee.
