Victims Of Collision Near Cashel Named

Garda have released the names of the victims of last night’s road collision near Cashel.

Thomas O’Reilly, age 45, Bridget O’Reilly, age 46, and their Grandson Tom O Reilly, age 3 lost their lives when the car they were travelling in struck a wall. Garda have also shared images of the deceased with the family’s consent.

Two other occupants were injured – Superintendent Kieran Ruane says the 22 year old male driver is being treated for serious injuries, the female front passenger is being treated for less serious injuries.

All 5 occupants of the car are members of the same family. A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the family to provide support and the family will be kept updated as to the course of the investigation.

Post mortems examinations are taking place at Waterford University Hospital today.

Superintendent Ruane also acknowledges and expresses gratitude to colleagues in An Garda Síochána, the other emergency services who attended the scene last night and the staff at Tipperary University Hospital. The scene last night was traumatic and very difficult for everyone in attendance according to the senior Garda who describes the professionalism and compassion shown to the 3 deceased by first responders as commendable.

Superintendent Ruane met with the family of the deceased this morning and offered them the full support of the Garda in coming to terms with the loss of three family members. The family have appealed for Privacy.

Garda are appealing for information from anyone who may have been driving on local roads between Golden and Cashel and who may have any camera footage (including dashcam) or images from these roads between 8.15pm and 8.45pm to contact the investigation team at Cahir Garda Station.
