There was good news for many residents in the villages of Golden and Clogheen yesterday when the Tipp Cahir Cashel Municipal District Council considered the applications for support under the Village Enhancement Scheme.

In Clogheen 12 applicants were successful and as there was still 50% of the available budget unallocated the Council is to consider expanding the Scheme to include another section of the Main Street on the proposal of Cllr Marie Murphy.

In Golden, a total of 20 applications were received and considered, thirteen were approved and 7 excluded on the basis that they were outside the designated area.

The Council is focusing funding on properties that front onto the Main street and approach road area.

Cllr Michael Fitzgerald made a case for one of the excluded properties to be reconsidered for inclusion and council officials are now to review this application again with a view to allocating funding.
