Operation To Improve Road Safety Rolled Out By Tipperary Roads Policing Unit

Tipperary Roads Policing Unit are rolling out an operation to identify and intercept illegally modified vehicles to improve road safety.

During the operation, vehicles are inspected for illegal window tinting and tested for noise emissions from exhausts.  Vehicles are also inspected for general defects that could make it unsafe.  Garda will also use the checkpoint opportunity to provide information and guidance on correct lighting and tyre thread depths to young motorists.

During a checkpoint in Nenagh a number of offences were discovered including one motorist who was arrested after being discovered driving while disqualified and testing positive for Cocaine.
