Safety Concerns Raised Over Old Cashel Kings Motel Site

Sinn Fein Public Representatives in the local area say that measures must be taken to address safety concerns at the derelict Old Cashel Kings Motel site on the Dublin Road, Ballypadeen, Cashel.

The site of the former motel now consists of a number of partially completed houses – the development was to be an aparthotel with cottages and bars/restaurants/meeting rooms.

No work has been undertaken at the site in over 15 years due to disputes about planning permissions and the fallout of the financial crash.

The call for security measures comes following reports of anti-social behaviour in the area, and a recent fire which put neighbouring properties at risk.

Cashel based TD Martin Browne says that anti-social behaviour at the site, situated less than 1km outside the town is a common occurrence.

Cllr Tony Black has submitted a motion for the next meeting of the council asking for an investigation at the site due to security and safety concerns.

The motion asks that the site be added to the Derelict Sites register and that the council requests that the developer improve the fencing at the site to prevent anti-social and criminal behaviour from occurring.
