Appeal Issued To Tipp People To Donate Blood

312

The Blood Transfusion Service is again appealing to Tipperary people to support blood donation clinics in the county in the coming days. The Pre-Amber warning letter issued to the hospitals on May 29th remains in force as hospitals need an additional 2,000 units of blood to be donated this June – some blood types are as low as 2 days stock on hand. Current demand for blood from the hospitals is running at +5.8% versus 2022 and is likely to further increase over the Summer.

Regular donors are asked to respond to text requests and to also make arrangements to give blood if they are eligible before they go on holidays

New donors have also fallen significantly since the pandemic therefore anybody interested in giving blood should visit  the giveblood.ie website here to check their eligibility before coming to a clinic or alternatively, call the IBTS to make an appointment on 1800 731137.

This evening there is a clinic in Cahir at the Cahir House Hotel between 3.50pm and 8.10pm.

Today, tomorrow and Thursday there is a clinic in the Ballykisteen Hotel, Tipperary town between 4.50pm and 8.10pm.

On Sunday June 11th a blood donation clinic will be held in Nenagh at the Abbey Court Hotel on the Dublin Road, Nenagh. This clinic will operate between 11.50am and 3.10pm.

Existing & New Blood Donors are welcome at all Clinics and intending donors are advised to visit giveblood.ie for information about eligibility to donate. Appointments can be made by phoning   1800 222 111.
