New Housing Units To Be Built In Cashel

Tipperary County Council has successfully engaged a contractor to build nine new housing units at the site of the old O’Connor shop at the top of Boherclough Street in Cashel.

The social housing units will be accommodated on the 0.19-hectare site of the disused supermarket and adjoining derelict house at the junction of Boherclough Street and Deerpark Road in Cashel.

The new houses will include three 2 bedroom, two storey houses, four 1 Bedroom apartments and two 2 Bedroom apartments.

Works also comprise provision of new roundabout, road realignment, internal site access roads, footpaths, underground services, drainage systems, car parking, boundary treatments, landscaping, open spaces, connection to existing sewers and watermains supply.

Local councillor Declan Burgess says that a South Tipperary based contractor has been recently appointed and is due to commence work on the town centre site in the coming weeks.

Cllr Burgess also welcomed the realignment works planned for the junction and the provision of badly needed housing while also tackling dereliction.
