Tipp Man Included In Provisional Irish Team For Aga Khan

A Tipperary man has been included in the provisional Irish team for Friday’s Aga Khan competition at The 2022 Dublin Horse Show.

The event begins tomorrow and features the best of equestrian action for all classes.

Over 1,600 horses will take part in competitions at the RDS in Ballsbridge county Dublin.

Max Wachman from Tipperary is joined by Meath’s Cian O’Connor, Down’s Conor Swail, Cork’s Shane Sweetnam, and Kilkenny’s Jack Ryan in consideration for  a place in Fridays 4 person team event.

Manager of the Irish Show Jumping team, Michael Blake is to name his final four horses and riders for the Aga Khan following the draw for the order of jumping on Thursday.

Ireland last won the coveted trophy in 2015. Cian O’Connor’s horse, Kilkenny, is owed by Coolmore’s Susan Magnier while Max Wachman’s Berlux Z is owned by Coolmore Showjumping.

Max Wachman is 19 and his grandparents are John and Susan Magnier and his great grandfather is the legendary Vincent O’Brien. Max and his younger brother Tom began their showjumping career taking classes on ponies at the Tipperary Equestrian Centre in Thurles.

Five teams, (France, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland) will compete for Nations Cup points in Friday’s Aga Khan event, while USA and Brazil will also field teams in Dublin but will not be eligible for points.
