Stephen Flanagan from Thurles emerged as the winner of the Men’s Competition at the Red Bull Conquer the Cashel event held over the weekend.
Rebecca Neal from Bournemouth, United Kingdom won the women’s event. The winners took home a total prize each of €2,000.
Two thousand competitors travelled to Cashel in Tipperary across Saturday and Sunday with the aim of conquering the Cashel which involved a timed race over a 2km obstacle course.
Members of Shakespeare in the Glen and the Forge Players mingled among the race entrants on the course, dressed appropriately, as representative of the local dynasty in the Rock that allowed the event to be held on their land.
The event was a major boon to local economy with accommodation and food venues reporting an increase in sales.
The Event management team for includes Tipperary town’s Nigel Cleary as Event Manager and local councillor Ann Marie Ryan.
