A Tipperary primary school is being commended by the National Gallery of Ireland.

Killurney NS in Clonmel entered the Jack B. Yeats Schools Competition which encourages teams to create a collaborative artwork inspired by the memories of people in their local area.

The children decided that as they lived in an area of natural beauty the project would draw on flowers in the locality and how scent and sight brought thought-provoking memories for people.

The children captured these memories and used them as inspiration to write verses for their poem and also to create flower embroidery pieces.
