Two People Charged After Clonmel Drugs Seizure

Two of the people arrested in Clonmel yesterday have since been charged. The two men (30s) are due to appear before Youghal District Court this morning at 10.30am. A man (20s) and woman (late teens) who were also arrested as part of this operation and have since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí had arrested four people and seized €18,000 of suspected drugs and a number of weapons following an operation in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. The operation, targeting suspected organised crime and the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs involved searches at ten houses in Clonmel. During the course of the operation Gardaí seized €18,000 of suspected cocaine, cannabis herb and amphetamines.

Gardaí also seized two suspected imitation firearms and an assortment of weapons such as slash hooks. The major search yesterday involved Clonmel Gardai with assistance form from the Clonmel District Drug Unit, the Tipperary Divisional Drug Unit, Armed Support Units Regional Dog Unit and Members of the Defence Forces .
