Tipp Main St. resurfacing delayed

The N24 through Tipperary town may not be fully resurfaced until late next year or even early in 2020. That was according to Cllr Michael Fitzgerald this morning.

Cllr Fitzgerald told Tipp Mid West that it could be the third quarter of 2019 or even the beginning of 2020 before the three-phase project is finished.

Among the reasons for the ongoing delay are the works recently carried out by Irish Water in the Davitt St area. Consultations between the various agencies with responsibility for the N24, as well as associated planning matters and other works have also served to slow down its progression.

Cllr Fitzgerald did note, however, that works such as the restructuring of the footpaths at the traffic lights in the town are also part of the overall N24 project.

The FG councillor said that while it was obvious that it was taking too long, resurfacing works on the first phase of the project – from the Limerick Road Roundabout to the Maid of Erin – should be ready to start soon.
