Minister Damien English, who the Taoiseach made responsible for arranging the setting up of a task force for Tipperary town is understood to have nominated a person who may chair the effort.

Deputy Michael Lowry told Tipp Mid West that the woman in question is well-placed to be an independent chair of the Vision and Plan of Action for Tipperary town. She has not yet been appointed.

He said that should she be appointed she will oversee the entire project and will be the link with the government.

He added that she will contact the various groups involved in the plan and if she is satisfied her role can be fulfilled she will take up that position.
