March4Tipp Demands Response From Council CEO

The March 4 Tipp group has, in a statement, told the County Council CEO Joe McGrath that the outline of the Tipperary Town Vision and Action Plan as published this week, will not suffice as a response to a letter they sent to him in December.

In a statement yesterday, the group questioned why Mr McGrath has not responded to the letter in question in which they sought a ‘detailed and realistic plan for a process to reinvigorate Tipperary town’, as committed to by the Taoiseach in the Dail.

In that letter they looked for the scope and structure of that reinvigoration plan, while they also demanded that he outline how it would be led and resourced; what its timeframe is and how its success or otherwise would be judged.

They now allege that instead of responding to their letter, Mr McGrath may have thought that this week’s outline of the Tipperary Town Vision and Action Plan in the form of a press release would suffice.

The March 4 Tipp group has said that the contents of the press release in question did not address the key issues that they believe need to be included in the plan.

They have also noted that they deferred a campaign of traffic disruption on the N24 to allow him to respond to the range of issues they outlined, which they said are ‘vital to the development of a workable plan to turn around the town’s decline’.

They concluded by saying that they are again looking forward to examining the full proposal once it is available.
