Procedures Cancelled As STGH Struggles To Cope

Management at South Tipperary General Hospital has postponed or rescheduled a number of non-emergency procedures today due to a high level of overcrowding there.

According to the INMO’s Trolley Watch figures, 41 people are awaiting beds at South Tipp General today, 31 on trolleys and 10 in overflow areas of wards.

As a result, the hospital is advising people whose inpatient procedures have been rescheduled or postponed that they will be contacted with a new appointment date as soon as possible.

Management is also asking members of the public to only attend the emergency department in the case of a genuine emergency and to consult a GP or Caredoc out-of-hours service in the first instance where possible.
