Senior Council Engineer killed on Mont Blanc

A senior council engineer with Tipperary County Council was one of two people killed on France's Mont Blanc over the weekend. 

Peter Britton was climbing a section of Europe's highest mountain with Colm Ennis when the two fell to their deaths. 

Mr Britton a father of three lived in Clonmel and was a senior road's engineer with the local authority. 

Mr Ennis from Waterford City worked with Amazon in Co Cork and was awarded a medal for bravery for saving his brother on the Dolomites in Italy three years ago.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Britton today by members, staff and officials of Tipperary County Council.
