Labour Senator Denis Landy has this week called on Eirgrid to review their proposals to expand the transmission network following the withdrawal by Britain from an agreement with Ireland to purchase energy created by wind here.
Senator Landy said that it had been a long-held belief that the pylons included in the Eirgrid plans would ultimately act as the conduit for the export of wind energy from all parts of the country.
However, he notes that given the change in the agreement with the UK, the Eirgrid project must be adjusted accordingly.
