Cashel based Fianna Fáil Councillor,  Roger Kennedy is welcoming the allocation of €73,341 in grant funding to support sports clubs in the Cashel area.

The funding was announced yesterday by Minister of State for Sport, Thomas Byrne TD, as part of a record total overall allocation of €26 million in equipment grants nationwide, with almost €1 million in Tipperary, under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (‘SCEP’).

The breakdown of funding locally is as follows: €10,127 for Dundrum Athletic Club for a high jump unit, €13,414 for Cashel-New Inn Hockey Club for non-personal sports equipment, €20,305 for Kilfeacle & District RFC for a new mower, and €29,495 for Rosegreen GAA for fitness equipment.

Cllr. Kennedy extends his thanks to the volunteers and club members for what he called their “invaluable work” at the heart of the community.
