70 OPW Heritage sites across Ireland are to open for the Easter weekend, including a number of sites which have recently reopened for the Summer season. Many of the sites are hosting special Easter activities.  In 2022, 15 million visitors stepped through the doors of heritage sites – managed by the Office of Public Works(OPW), a 15% increase in visitor numbers from 2021.

Some of the locations are in Tipperary including Ormond Castle in Carrick on Suir, Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage in Cahir and Roscrea Castle and Damer House also in Roscrea. These four locations all continue to offer free access on the first Wednesday of each month to encourage people to visit and experience centuries of history. In all 35 locations around the country participate in the free access on the First Wednesday of the month Programme.  The OPW is reminding the public that an OPW Heritage Card also offers visitors unlimited access to the over 45 historic sites and visitor attractions for a year.
