Tipperary TD Martin Browne is calling for improved mental health supports for people accommodated under the Temporary Protection Directive.

The comment comes after the death of a man following a fatal assault in Dundrum, county Tipperary.

A man has been remanded in custody to appear at Nenagh Court on March 5th in connection with the death.

The victim was Shamil Nabiev aged 69, an Azerbaijani National. Ivan Volkov, a 65-year-old Ukrainian, remains in custody.

Deputy Browne appealed for people to allow the Garda investigation to be completed into the incident and urged people not to circulate inaccurate information.

The two men involved may have been in a dispute that got out of hand according to the TD who adds that it is a tragic situation that one man has died and another is imprisoned.

The TD says locations such as Dundrum while keeping people safe from the war in Ukraine are isolated locations where tensions may rise between the residents adding that this makes it a worry for everybody.
