Man Charged With Murder Following The Death Of A Man In Kerry

A man with a Clonmel address has been charged with the murder of County Kerry firearms dealer Paddy O’Mahony, whose body was found at his home near Castlemaine on Sunday February 25th . Mr O’Mahony was 84, a widower, father and grandfather.He was a firearms dealer and enthusiast and a founding member of An Ríocht Gun Club and the Kingdom Ríocht Rifle and Shooting Range.

A post-mortem examination on Monday confirmed he had been shot, and investigating Gardaí arrested a man for questioning.  This man, named as Thomas Carroll, aged 66, with an address at Brookway, Clonmel, CountyTipperary, appeared at Tralee District Court to face a single charge of murder earlier today.  He has been remanded in custody for a week. The Judge, Mr Justice John King,  granted free legal and asked that management at Cork Prison be made aware of Mr Carroll’s medications. 

Mr Carroll is to appear before Tralee District court again on Wednesday  March 6th
