Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed Thurles Students & Staff To Be Offered Psychological Supports Today

Classmates, staff and students at Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed Thurles will be offered support from Psychologists today when they return to school after their midterm break. A third year student, Leah O’Meara aged 15th died in a road collision on Thursday February 15th in Rearcross.

School Principal Denis Quinn issued a statement over the weekend stating that the school community is shocked and saddened by the sudden and untimely death.

Mr Quinn describes Leah as a young lady with a winning smile adding that she was involved in all aspects of school life and was so friendly and popular among her peers. “She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.”

The Principal extended deepest sympathies and prayers to all those affected, especially Leah’s family, friends and the wider school community at this sad time.

Funeral arrangements have also been confirmed – Leah will repose at her Home today from 4 pm to 7 pm. Removal on tomorrow, Tuesday Morning, to Bothar Na Naomh Church, Thurles to arrive at 9.30 am for Requiem Mass at 10 am followed by Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Thurles.

Four other people were taken to hospital for assessment following the collision.
