A number of weather warnings for Ireland remain in effect for today.  County Tipperary is subject to a Status Yellow Rain warning along with county Limerick, Clare and Connacht until 6pm today.
The rainfall is associated with Storm Babet which is moving over Europe from the Atlantic – parts of the UK are expected to experience winds and rains from the storm until Saturday.
Meteorologist with Met Éireann Siobhán Ryan says storm Babet is unusual in that it is taking residence over much of Europe as well, over the coming days lots of rain, lots of high winds too, but really, for Ireland it is a rain event.”
Met Eireann is warning of spells of heavy rain, strong and gusty east to southeast winds at times possibly causing localised flooding, reduced visibility and dangerous road conditions.
Meanwhile, Kerry, Cork and Waterford are under a Status Orange warning until 1pm today
Leinster, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan are also subject to a Status Yellow rain warning until 8pm tonight.
